Tour Overview
This 5-Day Uganda and Rwanda Safari begins and ends in Masaka, Uganda, offering an unforgettable journey through some of East Africa’s most spectacular wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and rich cultural heritage.
Your adventure starts with a visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second-largest savannah national park and one of the country’s premier wildlife destinations. Enjoy an exciting game drive and a memorable boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where you’ll have excellent opportunities to spot a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, Uganda kobs, warthogs, crocodiles, hippos, and numerous bird species in their natural habitat.
The safari then continues to the breathtaking Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale District, famously known as the “Place of Many Little Birds.” Surrounded by lush terraced hills, the lake is home to 29 picturesque islands, each with its own fascinating history, including the well-known Punishment Island (Akampene). Here, you’ll enjoy a relaxing boat cruise while learning about the area’s rich cultural heritage and interacting with the friendly local communities.
Crossing into Rwanda, you’ll visit the magnificent Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s largest freshwater lake. Experience a scenic boat cruise to several beautiful islands, including Monkey Island and Napoleon Island, while witnessing unique local attractions such as the famous swimming cows. The journey concludes in Kigali, where you’ll visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to gain a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history and remarkable journey of reconciliation before returning to Masaka, Uganda.
This safari perfectly combines wildlife viewing, scenic lakes, cultural experiences, and historical attractions, making it an ideal choice for travelers seeking an authentic Uganda and Rwanda adventure.
